I am back with yet another edition of Sports talk of the month. This month was full of exciting sporting actions including Djokovic's record breaking win, triumph by Indian hockey team in the women's junior Asia cup, exciting start to Ashes series in England, impressive start by Indian men's football team in SAFF championship. But the most talked about one has been the world test championship (WTC) final involving Indian men's cricket team. Involvement of Indian cricket team in any game creates a lot of attention and WTC final was no exception. After extreme hard work of two years two best teams of the 2021-23 WTC cycle reached the final & ultimately the best team of the cycle won the championship too.
Yet another ICC tournament knock out game and Indian team ended up on the loosing side. It's a tough pill to swallow but eventually the team that handles pressure better in a crunch game wins. That's what happened in the final too when Australia proved to be the team who exhibited their skills better. As a cricket loving country like India it's really disappointing that we fail to cross the final line time and again. But where is the fault? Is it with the players, coaches or administration? Questions are plenty and those have been asked after the conclusion of every ICC tournament in last 10 years. But nobody has the answers. A team which performs superbly throughout the year across formats suddenly looks average in the knockout games. Despite the presence of all the big stars of the game India hasn't been able to crack the code of winning an ICC title for a substantial period now.

On the other hand Australians were thorough professionals in their approach to clinch another ICC title. With a win in WTC final they now have become the first team to win all the ICC titles. What an achievement for a team that has been dominating the world cricket for years now. It was quite evident that they were better prepared for the big game. They had a proper strategy and stayed patient with the same throughout the game. They got the basics of test cricket right resulting in another emphatic victory. It is their second ICC title in last three years followed by their maiden World T20 title win back in 2021. It shows the character the team has. After going through some tough times in the recent past they have bounced back stronger and are aiming to achieve further success. Under the able leadership of Pat Cummins they are ready to climb the peak of success.
