Rags To Riches Story Of Boy In Pink

Hello Friends,

In this edition of Sports talk of the month  I am going to feature one of the most promising young cricketers who has announced his arrival at the big stage after an excellent season in IPL this year. Every year we get to see a plethora of  young talents during IPL and some of them who continue their good form over a long period of time go on to represent their respective nations too. This year too the biggest T20 league in the globe has shown the glimpses of future generation of cricket and their fearless approach in  the shortest format of the game. Cricket lovers are talking about Gill's emergence as the future batting superstar but Yashasvi Jaiswal is not far from being in the same league. Kind of maturity and temperament this young lad has shown so far, it won't be unfair to say that he surely is going to have a great cricketing career ahead of him.

Jaiswal's emergence is no less than a fairy tale. Shifting to Mumbai to pursue his cricketing dream  at a very young age was a big decision  considering the kind of hardships he had to face in order to survive in a city like Mumbai. From selling panipuris to make ends meet during the initial days to an Indian call up as reserve for the World Test Championship(WTC) finals is the typical rags to riches story. At a young age of 21 he has shown enough maturity both on and off the field to emerge as a champion. In his own words his early days struggle & challenges gave him the confidence to fight against all odds ( Read here his full interview).

Playing in a team where players like Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin are expected to be the headlines more often than not, he was the talk of the town this season. Apart from being tremendously consistent at the top he has been the batting mainstay for Rajasthan Royals this season. In the process he ended up stroking  his maiden IPL ton against a top quality Mumbai Indians side at Wankhede. Even though his stellar season with the bat  wasn't good enough for his franchise to book a playoffs berth this season, he has been able to draw the attention of one and all.

I am sure Jaiswal's story is going to inspire many in the coming days. At the same time cricket lovers would expect him not to  just remain as an IPL hero but  emerge as a national hero who will serve Indian cricket for many years.
